SCOPE OF SUBJECTS AT LOWER PRIMARY LEVEL

LANGUAGES( ENGLISH / HINDI / MARATHI ): Every child from this age group should possess the ability to use language in a proper manner to express their feelings, ideas as well as their opinions fluently and clearly. But to be able to achieve such competency, one needs to enjoy extensive reading and conduct research.

The best way to learn any language is to simply learn it the way the mother tongue is learnt i.e. From hearing to listening to speech to reading and finally writing.

The curriculum aims at building the four pillars of language development, listening, speaking, reading and writing. If emphasis is laid in building the latter two pillars first, i.e. reading and writing, keeping in mind mere marks oriented performance in assessments, the child’s language foundation cannot hold ground firmly. To be able to excel in debates, group discussions, elocution, poetry appreciation or even conduct meaningful conversation with peers or strangers after school life ends, it is extremely essential that the first two pillars i.e listening and speaking must be built strongly.

ENGLISH

The school has its own age appropriate, well designed language development course . Along with the same the school also follows Karadi Path programme which uses the basic elements of theatre, music and story telling and opens up classroom space to the joys of language learning.

We want our children to comprehend what they read and further explore the world of books thereby bridging the gap between students and books.

We train our students to develop proficiency in languages thereby comprehending and expressing their view point in any subject becomes easier.

MATHEMATICS

Most of us perceive Math as a subject that deals only with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of numbers, numbers and numbers. But excellence in Mathematics is achieved only when the child is able to clearly see, imagine and play with numbers.

Our curriculum aims at creating liking and interest towards the subject by exposing them to the world of varied problems and its innumerable methods of solving them.

The curriculum aims at developing the necessary tools like Observation, Number analysis, Quantity recognition, Space perception, mathematical thinking and logical reasoning and to use the variety of mathematical tools in the learning and application of mathematics effectively and most important comfortably.

EVS / SCIENCE

Our EVS curriculum emphasizes inculcation of values, attitudes and skills related to protection of the environment and enhance/promote curiosity and creativity in relation to the surroundings.

It also develops an appreciation for diversity (language, family, habits, variations in plants, animals, culture etc.) in the immediate surroundings.

The focus of the Science Curriculum is on skill and process development rather than content coverage. The curriculum encourages development of scientific temper, curiosity, analytical and critical thinking and synthesis of ideas and concepts.

In Grades I and II, EVS covers areas of both Science and Social Studies in an integrated manner, however in Grades III to V the Social Environment component of EVS is covered in Social Studies and Natural environment component is covered in Science.

SOCIAL STUDIES

Initially Our children are introduced to Social studies through discussions about their family system, social changes around them, national and cultural events, our tradition and certain practices.

It also throws light on each persons’ role in society and our subsequent interdependence in the society, awareness towards public and private property, functions of government and how it influences our life altogether.

COMPUTER EDUCATION

The curriculum for computer application promotes the integration of technology into the teaching and learning process and provides children with opportunities to use modern technology.

The use of modern technology also equips children with necessary skills to learn different concepts in an enjoyable way and make learning fun.

It also develops the ability to recognize situations in life where computers will be helpful to choose the most appropriate tool for a particular task and use these tools in various combinations to produce required outputs. It allows the students to perform good research and communicate. It also allows the students to understand different subjects in a better way by experiencing various types of teaching learning process.
